Char Moy (Fried Porridge) @ Serdang, Kedah

Ever heard of Char Moy? (炒粥,Fried Porridge)
You must be there like "Huh? R U nuts?? Where got people char moy? By the way, it's not possible!"
I was having the same thoughts too when my dad told me about it.
Hence, he took the family all the way to Serdang just to try out how fried porridge actually taste like!

------Pardon my poor iPhone 4 photo quality-----

And behold, the famous Char Moy
#1

It might look like just another bowl of soy sauce porridge, but believe me, there are so many ingredients being put inside just to make it tastes like what it is suppose to taste!
As far as I remember, there are dried shrimps, ku chai, cuttlefish, chunks of crackers etc.
The combination made the porridge flavourful.

Sweet and Spicy cockles
#3

I personally do not favour seafood-in-a shell thingy, so I'll just skip this.
But my family loves it. And it is one of the must-order popular dish too!
Don't miss it out if you are a cockle lover!

Kerabu (Appetizer)
#4

I like this a lot! It's so different from the usual kerabu that I've tried before!
Saw the light green stripes?? It's not cucumber but unripe mango!
Besides that, onions, cuttlefish crackers and chili chunks are also added to give the sweet, sour + spicy taste!
And the cuttlefish cracker is definitely give your taste bud that orgasm!
This is also a highly recommended!!

Tomyum fish.
#5

This Tomyum fish is by far the best that I've tried.
The fish are extremely fresh, (noted that the fish are brought directly from the fisherman daily) with concentrated tomyum! And and and...... the dish is warm throughout our meal!
Guess why?

Because the heat is maintained by ignited charcoal! XD
Nowadays we rarely see restaurant using charcoal but candle or wax instead.

Last but not the least, the Curry Wild Boar meat from the neighbouring restaurant.

No we didn't try to be disrespectful for bringing foods from outside, it was the tauke (shop owner) himself who recommended and ordered it for us! XD
For meat lovers, this is one of the must-try too!

The shop might seems to be unappealing, but hey! Don't judge the book by its cover!
There are a lot of other choices apart from what I posted above.
By the way, they provide free wifi too!
Do get there if you have the chance!
Go earlier to avoid the crowd!=)
