Travelogue : Hong Kong Day 3 @ Ocean Park

Blog post of Hong Kong trip will be continue with the visit to Ocean Park
I wanted to visit Disneyland Hong Kong at the first place. You see, I have a dream of visiting ALL the Disneyworlds. We hesitated for quite some time when we were planning the trip. But at last I was talked over by my friend who said that Disneyland Hong Kong is much smaller than expected and if I have visited Disneyland Tokyo before then this shouldn't be an option for me. Which is why we ended up in Ocean Park =)

Ocean Park Hong Kong (香港海洋公園), commonly known as Ocean Park, is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park and amusement park, situated in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shan in the Southern District of Hong Kong. It is, together with Hong Kong Disneyland, one of the two large theme parks in Hong Kong.

Just after the main entrance, visitors are required to board on the "submarine" to the other the side of the Ocean Park where more rides and attractions are offered.
Covering an area of 91.5 hectares (226 acres), the park is separated by a large mountain into two areas, The Summit (Headland) and The Waterfront (Lowland). These areas can be reached by a 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) cable car system, or the Ocean Express funicular railway. As the Headland comprises several hills, visitors can also opt to use Hong Kong's second longest outdoor escalator.

We love our first ride, The Rapids from the park.  We were soaked wet due to the sudden water gun attacks from overhanging suspension bridges, but it was definitely a fun ride plus some water splashes did cool us down in that burning hot weather.

Our first ride

Next stop was Ocean Theatre,  an international world class production with sound editing provided by an Oscar winner, featuring delightful music, dazzling backdrops, and stunning performances by its animal stars on stage and up-close with the audience.

The 6-scene show unfolds with a grandfather telling his granddaughter about his dream of how humans and animals can live harmoniously, with mutual love and respect. The dolphin show was mediocre and it didn't really impressed us. I was expecting mid-air jumps or maybe a hoop jump but none of them were presented, only simple gesture such as high-five or fin clappings were performed.

This half a kilometer roller coaster was one of my favourite rides. The reason why I like it was because there reach a peak where we can enjoy the picturesque view for a split second before the Mine Train's first fall. It was like "Woah.... (in awe) WAAAAAHHHHHHHH!! (in terror)". Of course no photos were taken during the ride. haha!

I always love to see the light effects have on sea jellies. They can keep me staring at them forever. Sea jellies are just one of God's most interesting creation don't you agree? There is an underwater 'garden', where fluorescent sea jellies float serenely overhead at the Marine World . Over 1,000 sea jellies of all sizes, shapes and colours from around the world can be found at here! Different types of sea jellies accessories available and all of them are so cute! Even though the pot plants were also planted in a way to look like sea jellies!

Lining up for water splash game

Frankly, we didn't had a lot of rides due to massive human congestion to almost every attraction. To make things worst, everyone seemed to be a little bit impatient probably because of the heat that exceeded 30ºC. Even the 15cm diameter watermelon seemed to be priced reasonably at  HKG25. I thought that Ocean Park might have less visitor than Disneyland Hong Kong but I guess that I was wrong. Both of them are equally loved I assume.
